    Cockburn’s & Co has always been a pioneer in Douro. They were one of the first to plant single varietal blocks and also invested in the remote region of Douro Superior which proved to be rather successful.

    1997 was an excellent year in the Douro Valley. The crop was small abut produced grapes with wonderfully concentrated flavours, providing outstanding wines with excellent structure and intensearoma. Powerful yet elegant with ripe cherry fruits, chocolate and medicinal scents. Rich on the plalate with velvety tannin and great length.

    Cockburn’s & Co has always been a pioneer in Douro. Founded in 1815 by Robert Cockburn, the company was one of the first to plant single varietal blocks. They also invested in the remote region of Douro Superior that has proved to be successful. Like many other they had difficulties after the Second World War and were joined by other families until the Symington Family Estates acquired all the assets of Cockburn’s in 2006, including vineyards and stocks of ageing port and helped the reputation of the estate rise again.     Vineyards & Winemaking

    They own the prestigious Quinta dos Canais, a 97 hectares of vineyard that has been consistently given the top ‘A’ grade ranking by the Douro’s authorities. The wines are aged  in the Cockburn’s Lodge, the largest wooden Port cellar in the historical area of Vila Nova de Gaia.

    Alongside their famous Vintage ports including prestigious Quinta dos Canais, the firm produces a range of White, Ruby, Tawny, LBV and Special Reserve.

    Returns

    SALE OR RETURN is available by prior arrangement only and for orders of 96 bottles or more. All returns are at the customer’s expense. Returns must be made within 28 days of original delivery and goods must be in a resalable condition. We reserve the right to only refund up to 25% of the original order. For further details please contact customer services 020 8858 6011.

    CANCELLATIONS can be made within seven working days from receipt of delivery, provided that all wines are unopened and in their original condition. To cancel an order customers should contact the Customer Service team on 020 8858 6011 or email orders@davy.co.uk. It is your responsibility to keep the wines safe and in their original condition until collection is made.

    TASTING CANCELLATIONS – full refunds can only be made where at least 7 days’ notice is given prior to the event date. Refunds will only be given after this time if we are able to re-sell your tickets. In the event that a tasting is cancelled, Davy’s shall offer customers a full refund.
