Sarah is commercial sales manager at CA Grands Crus (the company that has owned Grand-Puy Ducasse and Meyney since 2004), and she will be guiding us through a fantastic tasting of some truly special wines from the properties. Among an impressive line-up of vintages, you will taste a superb 1986 Grand-Puy Ducasse from double magnum, presented alongside the 2016 vintage to offer a compelling comparison across three decades. Dinner will also feature a 2006 Château Meyney served from magnum.
Grand-Puy Ducasse is a quintessential representation of Pauillac, with its winery in the heart of the town and a patchwork of vineyard plots that border the likes of Mouton, Lafite and Pontet Canet. The resulting wines are a comprehensive expression of the terroir of this prestigious appellation. We will taste alongside Meyney, a 51 hectare estate neighbouring Château Montrose with wines possessing depth, elegant structure, refined aromatics and one of best value wines from Saint-Estèphe available. Amongst a range of recent vintages, attendees will taste a stunning 1986 from double magnum, to be served alongside the 2016 vintage during dinner, a fantastic comparison to see how the wines evolve across three decades.
After a Champagne aperitif, Sarah will talk us through the history of the wineries and what makes them so special and unique. We will hear about the various winemaking techniques and processes such as the renovation of the Grand-Puy Ducasse cellars in 2012 and the addition of new cement, egg-shaped vats. We’ll taste through some of the estate’s finest wines and enjoy a specially prepared four-course dinner with wine pairings. This is definitely a tasting not to be missed! Spaces are very limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
