Château Angélus

Château Angélus is a St Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé A that was founded in 1782 by Jean de Boüard de Laforest, a King’s bodyguard. Since 1985 Hubert de Boüard de Laforest, the seventh generation, is in charge of the domain alongside his cousin Jean-Bernard Grenie. The estate has the particularity to be located in a natural amphitheatre, overlooked by three churches which angelus bells' sound is amplified when ringing. View our selection.

Vineyard & Winemaking

The near 60 acres of superbly located in a natural amphitheatre on the south-facing slope of St-Emilion. Planted to 47% of Cabernet Franc which finds a favourable home on the sandy clay-limestone soils at the foot of the vineyards, this terroir and large proportion of Cabernet Franc contribute to the wonderfully powerful yet elegant Angélus style.

Three wines are made at the estate; the grand vin Château Angélus, the second vin Le Carillon d'Angélus and No. 3 d'Angélus.
