Dom Salvador

Quinta da Torre is a family-owned estate in Melgaço where the Salvador family has been producing Alvarinho since 1976. Located in the Vinho Verde sub-region of Monção e Melgaço DOC, where the character of Alvarinho wine was shaped. The region's granite-based soils extend from the Minho River valley to the mountainsides, providing an ideal terroir and benefiting from the mountainous climate that protects them from the Atlantic influence. The family's careful rejuvenation of the original estate – some of which dates back to 1929 – including the addition of a modern cellar in 1995, has meant that the family has been able to increase wine production without compromising quality or losing the estate's architectural charm. Their wine, Dom Salvador expresses the essence of Alvarinho and its terroir. Read more
