Domaine Beaucastel
Founded the 16th century, when Pierre de Beaucastel bought a plot of land in Coudoulet, Château de Beaucastel earned its fame in the 20th Century, under the ownership of Jacques Perrin. Today his sons Jean Pierre and Francois oversee the 100 hectares of vines and share the same values. Following biodynamic principles, they work in respect of their land and terroir. The vineyards are planted with up to 80 years old vines on the region’s typical ‘galets’ (round pebbles) soil which retains the heat during the day and slowly release it at night. As a result, the grapes retain their acidity while achieving optimum ripeness making wines elegant, well-balanced and with great ageing potential.
