Kumeu River

Founded in 1944 in Hawkes Bay by the Brajkovich family, Kumeu River has earned its fame with classic Burgundian style chardonnays. The estate spreads over 30 hectares of vineyards lying on clay soils and benefits from a cool climate influenced by the Tasman Sea. Using indigenous yeasts, extended lees ageing, and malo-lactic fermentation, their Chardonnays have gained many outstanding accolades with Maté, Coddington and Hunting Hill rivalling Premier Cru Burgundies from the best producers.

If you can taste history, duty, and family pride in a glass, it’s there in the Kumeu River Chardonnays...now producing some of New Zealand’s greatest Chardonnays, not to mention the world’s. Lisa Perrotti-Brown, M.W., Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
