Oddero is a family-run estate managed by the seventh generation of Pietro and his sister Isabella, with a wine-making history dating back to the 18th century. As might be expected of such a well-established family, their vineyard holdings cover some of the finest sites of Barolo and their understanding of the potential of their vines is second to none. Viticulture here has long been sustainable and respectful of their environment and the estate has held organic certification since 2008. Winemaking is traditional, with long macerations on the skins, warm fermentations and ageing in large oak botti. There is lots of attention to detail in the cellar and the family have worked with top-tier (and now very fashionable) Austrian coopers Stockinger for their barrels for the past twenty years. The winemaking allows for both an expression of house style across the range and for each individual site to shine.
