The People
Owner and winemaker Owen Inglis fell in love with Adelaide Hills when visiting his aunt’s horse stud in Clarendon as a child. A successful businessman in Hong Kong, Owen always had a passion for wine and obtained his qualification as a sommelier. When he and his wife Cassandra started their retirement project, they bought a property in Adelaide Hills which happens to have some vines. The passion took over and Owen founded Sidewood winery. Helped with award-winning winemaker Darryl Catlin whose CVs include top winery Shaw & Smith, his wines are continuously receiving high praise from leading critics.

The Vineyards
Adelaide Hills benefits from a significantly cooler climate than other regions in South Australia with vines lying on a mixture of sandy loams, loams and clay loams over clay subsoils. Following sustainable practices, the 91ha of vineyards are carefully manicured to ensure the fruit flavour profiles are at their peak when harvested. Hand-picking and fruit selection play a vital role to ensure that only the best fruit is grown and used in Sidewood wines.
