Gamay: the other Burgundian red grape

Born from crossing Pinot Noir with Gouais Blanc, this variety thrives on the rolling blue granite-based hills of the Beaujolais region and in the Northern Rhône. Fantastic recent vintages alongside traditional winemaking techniques have risen the quality level of the wines made here, now rivalling their Burgundian neighbour.

We have sourced some of the best expressions you will find from this ever-surprising grape variety, including our delicious Coteaux du Lyonnais ‘Traboules’ Domaine Clusel-Roch, a rich Moulin A Vent and a complex Morgon Côte de Py made by Jean Paul Brun (recently rated as one of the ‘‘four star’’ producers in Beaujolais by Robert Parker) and a rare and excellent Burgundian example made by Domaine Prunier-Bonheur. All will match beautifully with game dishes.
