2018: A year in review - Five Stars; Gold Medals and a Chilean '1st Growth'

Before we say farewell to 2018 we’d like to keep with tradition and share some of the highlights of our year with you: Our best reviews and top scoring & award winning wines. We’d like to say a big thank you to all our winemakers for their dedication to quality and their passion for making wines that express the character of their vineyards. We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your business in 2018 and putting your trust in us to source the finest wines for you.

2019 is going to be great, but first, here’s what happened in 2018…

We kicked off the year with the fantastic news that our Australian producer Sidewood received five stars from James Halliday in the Wine Companion. Great results followed shortly after at the Sommelier Wine Awards, our wines winning no less than 7 gold medals, with: Rioja Reserva Vitola Miguel Merino, Champagne Dumenil Rosé, Rioja Crianza Valserrano, and Lirac Lunar Apogé amongst those scooping the top prize.
Over spring, Bodega Viña Ventisquero in Chile was rated as a “1st growth” by Tim Atkins MW and Rosé de Léoube received a gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards, while Corbières Boutenac le Champ des Murailles scored 95pts in their magazine.
In the summer, our new Portuguese wines Vinho de Talha Bojador and Somontes Colheita Branco caught the attention of wine critics, with Jancis Robinson amongst those giving praise. Not alone in spotting the gems in our portfolio, we’d also like to thank Matthew Jukes; Terry Kirby; Sam Willye-Harris; David Williams; Brian Elliott and Julia Harding for the write-ups they’ve given to our wines over the course of the year.
And finally, Prosecco Valdobbiadene Toffoli was highly recommended in Decanter Magazine with an impressive 93 pts.
