Rhône Valley

The Rhône valley holds a multitude of vineyards which benefit from various climates and soils following the 250km river of the same name. The north is famous for its Syrah – grown on steep terraces and producing the rich, deep, and refined wines of Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage – as well as the wonderful whites of Condrieu.  The south is well known for its pebble stone vineyards where Grenache thrives alongside Syrah and other Mediterranean grapes making the powerful and rich wines of Châteauneuf du Pape (the oldest appellation in France), Gigondas and Vacqueyras alongside excellent value Côtes du Rhône. Serious rosé is also made in Tavel, a top-notch AOC, and superb desert wines are produced in the village of Beaumes de Venise from the aromatic Muscat grape. Read more…
