Galicia

Located in the north-west corner of the Iberian Peninsula, Galicia has a strong maritime climate and is mainly suited to white grape varieties. The most popular is Albarino, a robust and thick-skinned grape well-adapted to the local harsh weather that produces elegant and intensely aromatic whites with the best examples to be found in Rias Baixas. Towards the east, in Ribeira, Treixadura is the grape to watch. Originating from Vinho Verde in Portugal, it can create rich and wonderfully aromatic whites when receiving all the care it needs.
