Château Ducru Beaucaillou, meaning ‘beautiful stone’, is located in the south east of St Julien. Once part of Château Beychevelle, the estate was split the 17th century well before Bernard Ducru acquired and renamed the property. After successful ownership, Jean Eugene Borie rescued the estate in the 1950s. Today his son Bruno Eugene is in charge of the domaine that thrives the reputation of being a super second. Made with high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon (usually around 90%), Ducru Beaucaillou is known for being powerful yet elegant and charming. View our selection.
The 75 hectares of vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, with an average of 35 years old vines. The grand vin is usually aged for 18 months in oak barrels of which 90% is new.
