Château d’Yquem 1er cru classé, spreads over 113 hectares of vines of which only one hundred contributes to the production of the famous sweet wine. Right in the heart of a 20 km strip of land along both sides of the Garonne Valley and, at the highest point of Sauternes, the estate benefits from a microclimate that encourages the ‘noble rot’. Often describes as the best sweet wine in the world, it offers a myriad of well-balanced and complex flavours that generate even more harmonies over time. After successive family ownership, Yquem was sold in 1999 to LVMH, but its former owner and director Alexandre de Lur-Saluce remains in charge today. View our selection.
The vineyards are planted with 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc. Yquem is fermented in oak barrels of which 100% is new and is left in barriques to mature for up to 36 months.
Only two wines are produced, Château d’Yquem and Y.
