Product description
Founded in 1798, Dow’s stands as a leading Port house with a storied legacy. Andrew James Symington joined the company in 1912, and today, six members of the Symington family proudly own and operate this prestigious establishment, renowned for its impressive Ports. Nestled in the remote, hot, and dry Douro Superior, Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira commands a magnificent position on the north bank, overlooking a broad sweep of the Douro River. The wines from Senhora da Ribeira are among the finest in the Douro, perfectly complementing those from Bomfim in crafting Dow’s classic Vintage Ports.

About the producer
About the producer: Dow’s Port
Dow’s is considered to be one of the leading Port houses and their wines are amongst the longest lived and most impressive. Founded in 1798 by Bruno da Silva, a Portuguese merchant from Oporto who used to transport its precious cargo of fine Ports under its own armed protection. The firm was also the first British Port producer to invest extensively in premium vineyards, acquiring Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira and Quinta do Bomfim. In 1912, Andrew James Symington became a partner in Dow’s, and today six members of the family own the company. Dow’s is famous for its legendary 1896 Vintage port together with 1900, 1908, 1927 and 1945. In 2009, Dow’s 2007 was awarded a perfect 100 Points by Wine Spectator and still is the only Port produced in the 21st Century with 100 Points. View our selection.

The 133 hectares of vines are spread over five of the finest vineyards in the Douro valley, Quinta do Bomfim located in the prestigious Cima Corgo, Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira with the oldest vines they own, Quinta do Santinho, Quinta de Cerdeira & Quinta da Fonte Branca. The estate is planted with Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz and old mixed vines.
