Post Scriptum is the ‘second wine’ made by Bruno Prats (of Cos d’Estournel) with the Symington family, owners of Graham’s Port. The wine is made at Quinta de Roriz from a second picking after fruit for the first wine ‘Chryseia’ has been harvested (hence the name…the wine is literally a ‘P.S.’ to Chryseia!). The winemaking is surprisingly aimed at elegance and refinement… Jancis Robinson describes Chryseia as ‘the Douro’s Claret’. Grapes are hand sorted and de-stemmed before gentle crushing. Gravity takes the juice to the vats for more gentle maceration and the wine is aged for 14 months in 400 litre French oak barrels.
In 2013 the best grapes were harvested just on time before the heavy rains of September to produce this remarkable wine. Attractive aromas of ripe prune and black cherry. Full bodied and elegant with smooth tannins leaving a fresh and long tasting finish reminiscent of Cru Classe Bordeaux. We recommend decanting 30 minutes to an hour before serving.
