Château Cantenac Brown is a 3ème Cru Classé located in Margaux. It was founded in the 19th century by John-Lewis Brown who bought a vineyard and designed a traditional Tudor style château in the village of Cantenac, in order to remind himself of his Scottish background. In the 2000s, the Simon Halabi family acquired the property with the ambition of raising it to the highest levels. With Jose Sanfins running the estate today, a sustainable approach has been adopted in the vineyards and each plot is vinified separately according to its grape variety and age in order to create a precise wine full of character. View our selection.
The 53 hectares of vineyards are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc as well as some Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon for the production of white wines. The grand vin is aged for 12 to 15 months in French oak barrels of which 50% to 70% is new.
Château Cantenac Brown (grand vin), Brio de Cantenac Brown (second vin), Alto de Cantenac Brown (white) and Château Brown Lamartine (sourced from a small parcel of the grand vin.)
