The estate at the time covered 52 hectares and included the parcel ‘Les Carruades du Pouyalet’ before it was sold to Chateau Lafite in 1844. Vineyards today border Mouton Rothschild. In the 1930 it became the property of Baron Philippe de Rothschild and was renamed d’Armailhac in 1989. Vineyard & Winemaking

As well as having vineyards situated on excellent Pauillac terroir, d’Armailhac benefit from having very old vines, with an average of around 50 years old with some vines dating back to the late 19th century! Soils are largely the classic Pauillac deep gravel, with around one-fifth of the 70 hectares of vines being on clay-limestone. It is planted with 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The wine is matured for 12 to 18 months in oak barrel of which 25% is new.
