    Product description

The Côtes de Castillon vineyard, managed by the legendary Pomerol winemaker Denis Durantou of L’Eglise Clinet, is a jewel in Bordeaux’s crown. First produced in 2009, the 2019 vintage marks the last harvest overseen by Denis, standing as a testament to his unparalleled winemaking skill. At Château Montlandrie, Durantou’s philosophy centered on preserving the purity of the fruit and faithfully expressing the terroir, resulting in wines celebrated for their elegance, balance, and remarkable age-worthiness.

The 2019 Montlandrie is a masterful blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. It presents a deep garnet-purple hue and offers an intense bouquet of blackberry, briar, and desiccated orange peel, all beautifully delineated and focused. The palate is medium-bodied, with grainy tannins and cedar-infused black fruits, delivering freshness and structure. The finish is reminiscent of a Médoc wine, conveying a vibrant sense of energy that lingers gracefully.

  • About the producer

    About the producer: Château Montlandrie

Denis Durantou was one of the most highly regarded winemakers in Bordeaux until his sad passing in 2020. Late proprietor of one Bordeaux’s most renowned Chateaux, l’Eglise Clinet and known for his work not only in the winery, but also well-respected for his attention to detail in the vineyard and for possessing an understanding of terroir very few can match. Château Montlandrie was Durantou’s property in Castillon, a continuation of the Cote of St Emilion and this is reflected in the terroir of this 12-hectare vineyard; clay and limestone soils and a steep southerly facing aspect provide perfect conditions. Durantou declared Montlandrie ‘the second-best terroir I have after l’Église Clinet itself’.
