La Quinta Cruz, planted in 1986 on Calvario Hill’s Southeast slope, is a 1.2 ha. vineyard with thin sandy gravel topsoil. Covered in pebbles, it restrains Mazuelo’s vigor, allowing for a unique 100% Mazuelo wine in Rioja Alta’s Atlantic-influenced region. Fermented in a small stainless-steel tank at 24-25ºC with minimal pumping over. Following that, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in three 500-liter French oak barrels and one 1,300-liter concrete tank, where it matured for 12 months. Aromas of ripe dark and red fruit alongside spices. Intense palate full of sweet fruits and earthy flavours. Powerful, with a good tannic structure and a complex finish.
