Product description
Chateau du Moulin Rouge, a small yet impeccably maintained Cru Bourgeois estate, has been under the stewardship of the same family for 13 generations. Nestled between the renowned regions of Margaux and St. Julien, this estate is a true gem. Davy’s is exceptionally proud to be the exclusive UK importer for Chateau du Moulin Rouge, a firm favorite among our team, owing to the superb quality of its wines and the warm hospitality of the Ribeiro family.
The wine, composed of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc, is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. The vines, averaging 40 years in age, contribute to the wine’s complexity and depth.
The bouquet is intricate and powerful, with subtle notes of spice and ripe fruit interwoven with delicate, understated oak. On the palate, the wine begins with elegance and structure, gradually revealing ripe tannins and a long, refined aftertaste. The flavor profile is marked by generous ripe black and red berries, complemented by hints of spice and oak. The palate is intense, with a concentrated fruit presence and sophisticated tannins.
Critic tasting note: “This wine with juicy black-currant flavors and firm tannins is set for aging. Potential shows in its dry core and spice from wood aging. Drink the wine from 2025. Roger Voss” – 89/100, Wine Enthusiast
From a 21ha estate at Cussac-Fort-Médoc, soils with outcrops of gravel. The blend is 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels, one third new. A very rich ad fleshy palate retains the region's typical freshness, with some lead-pencil minerality, blackcurrant leaf and elegant oak. Rounded and complete with the ability to age further. A high-quality 2019.
