Product description
Grapes from Finca Las Jarillas in Gualtallary, in Uco Valley. The vineyard altitude is 1360 m.a.s.l with vines planted in 2005. Conventional in the process of converting to organic. Grapes undergo maceration in concrete eggs of 3,000 litres for 5 days at 10ºC, followed by fermentation with native yeasts for 25 days at temperature 24-26ºC. Aged for 12 months in the same concrete eggs. It has not been stabilised, filtered, or clarified Notes of blackberry, black plum, redcurrant, dried herbs, and cocoa powder are evident. On the palate, it offers a fresh and rounded profile, culminating in a delightful finish characterised berries and chocolate.
The wine is dark black-purple in colour, with a dense weave of aroma which probably needs a year or two more to resolve itself and show at its best: look out for meat, bacon and leather amongst the gathered black fruits. It’s very deep and very pure, by contrast, on the palate: laser-focussed black-plum and sloe fruits with classic Malbec rose petal and tea-leaf overtones. This perfumed purity alone is remarkable testimony to the potential of the terroir. Add the fine-textured tannins, fruit-drenched acidity and sense of stony finesse engraved in the wine and its lingering finish and you’ll see that something remarkable is coming to light here.
