Product description
Hand-harvested from old vines planted in 1977 in Swartland. The vines are bush-planted in dry land. Grapes were gently crushed and pressed. Then transferred to seasoned barrels for fermentation, with extended time on the fine lees to enhance texture and mouthfeel. Aged for 11 months in French oak barrels. Just 1,050 bottles produced. Intense yet refined aromas of citrus fruits alongside peach, flowers and hints of herbs. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, the wine display a bright and refreshing acidity and a saline finish.
Roodekrantz is a project that sees two families steeped in wine – the Morkels and the Burgers – combining to channel old-vine fruit from large commercial blends into premium bottlings. Made using fruit sourced from a 1977-planted vineyard, the wine’s nose shows citrus, peach, flowers and herbs, while the palate has great fruit definition, bright acidity and a saline finish.
