    Product description

    Petit Guiraud is the second wine of Château Guiraud, crafted from younger vines on the estate. The vineyard spans 133 hectares with organically farmed vines planted at a density of 6,600 per hectare. Château Guiraud is one of the few properties to be located within the village of Sauternes. Fermented in stainless steel tanks to maintain freshness, the wine is aged for 12 months in a mix of stainless steel and oak barrels. An unctuous feel, with apricot, date, meringue and almond cream notes all rolled together and lingering through to a rounded finish.

    Château Guiraud is one of the few properties to be located within the village of Sauternes itself (the only other being its illustrious neighbour Château Yquem). Purchased by Pierre Guiraud in 1766, it is today owned by Robert Peugeolt and 3 winemakers, Olivier Bernard of Domaine de Chevalier, Stephan Von Neipperg of Château Canon La Gaffelière and Xavier Planty.     Vineyard & Winemaking

    Château Guiraud extends over 128 hectares in Sauternes and planted with 65% of Semillon and 35% of Sauvignon with an average of 35-40 years old vines. Bordeaux’s most famous dessert wine region is situated 20 miles south of the city, spanning both banks of the Garone and Ciron Rivers. These waterways provide the perfect misty morning microclimate to encourage the growth of Botrytis Cinerea (also known as Noble Rot). The rot attacks the grape evaporating the water and concentrating the sugar levels. Sauternes are some of the longest lived wines, with premium examples from exceptional vintages having the potential to last 100 years or more (in perfect conditions). They are characterized by their balance of sweetness and zest of acidity with typical notes of apricots, honey and peaches with a nutty edge.

    Sauternes Premier Grand Cru Classé Château Guiraud (grand vin) with only 100 000 bt produced in good year and Petit Guiraud (second wine). They also produce a dry white wine, G de Château Guiraud.

    Returns

    SALE OR RETURN is available by prior arrangement only and for orders of 96 bottles or more. All returns are at the customer’s expense. Returns must be made within 28 days of original delivery and goods must be in a resalable condition. We reserve the right to only refund up to 25% of the original order. For further details please contact customer services 020 8858 6011.

    CANCELLATIONS can be made within seven working days from receipt of delivery, provided that all wines are unopened and in their original condition. To cancel an order customers should contact the Customer Service team on 020 8858 6011 or email orders@davy.co.uk. It is your responsibility to keep the wines safe and in their original condition until collection is made.

    TASTING CANCELLATIONS – full refunds can only be made where at least 7 days’ notice is given prior to the event date. Refunds will only be given after this time if we are able to re-sell your tickets. In the event that a tasting is cancelled, Davy’s shall offer customers a full refund.
