The Vina Albares’s vineyards cover around twenty five hectares, just to the south of Albares in the wine growing region of El Bierzo. Once owned by the Archbishop of Tarragona, they lie on the old pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostel. Some of the plots are over 100 years old and the fruit produced is of exceptional quality. The indigenous grape of the area is Mencia, a variety that has a concentrated black cherry and herbal character which makes it really special. Careful vineyard management, hand picking and thoughtful use of French oak complete the picture. View our selection.
