Once part of the Leoville estates (including Leoville Poyferre and Leoville Las Cases), Château Leoville Barton is the smallest portion of the three and has been owned by the Barton family since 1826. The estate spreads over 50 hectares of vines planted with 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. The wine is matured in oak barrels for 18 months, 50% of which is new and are known for their great quality at reasonable prices.
“One of the more elegant wines from the 2010 vintage, this can be approached earlier than some; but that’s not to underplay the power and complexity on display here. Layer upon layer of flavour, with lashings of St-Julien charcoal, pencil lead and blackcurrants. Drink 2019-2050″ – 97 points, Jane Anson, Decanter September 2017
