Once part of the Leoville estates (including Leoville Poyferre and Leoville Las Cases), Château Leoville Barton is the smallest portion of the three and has been owned by the Barton family since 1826. The estate spreads over 50 hectares of vines planted with 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. The wine is matured in oak barrels for 18 months, 50% of which is new and are known for their great quality at reasonable prices.
“This has some lovely gourmet touches from the oak, the smoky side being a real bonus. This is clearly going to be ready to drink earlier than any other vintage in this line-up, but it’s really rather lovely nonetheless. Drink 2020-2035.” – 90 points, Jane Anson, Decanter September 2017
