”Bordeaux En Primeur 2016: Building A Cellar” Tasting Masterclass & Supper, The Boot & Flogger, 26th April 2017

Davy’s Tasting Masterclasses offer unique opportunities to meet winemakers from estates from the world’s great wine producing regions and to taste the wines under their expert guidance.

For this event, we will be taking a look at the traditional system of buying Bordeaux, known as ‘En Primeur’; buying wines whilst still in barrel at the Chateaux in order to secure the best wines and prices.

Our Fine Wine Sales & Events manager Tim Wood will be in Bordeaux at the beginning of April for the annual Union des Grands Cru Classés Tastings, tasting the 2016 vintage from cask.  He’ll give his perspective on the vintage, a history of buying en primeur and hints and tips on how to buy wines on release for drinking and investment. We’ll also taste a ‘vertical’ of wines from previous vintages to see how the character of each vintage is expressed in the wine.

All are welcome, but this tasting event would best suit wine enthusiasts with an interest in red Bordeaux.

Ticket price includes an aperitif followed by a tutored tasting of  5 wines plus a glass selected to accompany each course at supper. The wines to be tasted on the night are to be confirmed.
