Product description
Paul Pillot alongside his children Thierry and Chrystelle, brought a new perspective and renewed energy to the estate which has led to a step change in quality. He uses a mixture of barrique and larger barrels to mature his wine and rarely uses more than 20% of new oak.
Les Champs Gains is a ‘lieu dit’ (named vineyard site) which lies close to the village, just under Les Caillerets. The deep clay soil here brings depth and texture. A complex Chassagne with a ripe nose of spiced herbal tea, white flowers, pear and fennel leads to generously proportioned middle weight flavours with a rich mouth feel. A hint of dry, leanness bolsters the pure and well-balanced finish with very good length.
