Château Argadens has been in the hands of the Sichel family, who are also part owners of Château Palmer and a number of other estates, since 2002. Their aim was to make the wine a benchmark within the Bordeaux Superieur appellation. Their goal has now been reached since Jancis Robinson made it her wine of the week in November 2018 with 16pts.
Sourced from a 45 hectares parcel located in Entre-Deux-Mers and aged for 12 months in oak barrels. Rich and ripe blackberry aromas with notes of oak. Generous on the palate with dense tannins and a long and spicy finish.
In St-André du Bois south east of Bordeaux overlooking the Garonne, owned by the Sichel family since 2002. 63% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc. Bright deep crimson. Quite intense nose and impressive ripeness. Round with lots of fruit and pleasure but with the dry (not drying) finish that is typical of Bordeaux. Evidence of some good quality old oak on sweet fruit. Proper wine with some future.- 16 pts Jancis Robinson
