Château Barde-Haut is located at St Christophe des Bardes, east of St Emilion, nearby famous estate of Trottevieille et Troplong-Mondot. Since 2000 the property belongs to the Garcin-Caithard family, who also owns Clos L’Eglise in Pomerol and Château Haut-Bergey in Pessac Leognan. Combining new technology and tradition, they produce a modern style St Emilion, considered as one of the rising stars of the AOC. Château Barde-Haut was promoted to Grand Cru Classé, in 2012. The 17 hectares of vineyards are planted with 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc with an average of 35 years old vines. The grand vin is aged for 18 months in oak barrel of which 80 to 100% is new.
