Product description
Merlot is planted on clay-limestone, and Cabernet Sauvignon on clay sands. The average age of the vines is 35 years. Hand harvesting is employed with low yields. Pre-fermentation maceration, gentle pneumatic pressing, and storage in concrete tanks. Two weeks of fermentation at 28°C, and up to three weeks of post-fermentation maceration. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 33% of the blend in new. Blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, full of attractive acidity and blackberry fruits. Fine tannins which are just now beginning to soften. Ripe flavours and a supple texture, with the added element of oak ageing to give complexity.
...made by the highly respected Valade family who has a reputation for being masters of Merlot. They have owned Brisson and also Le Peyrat since 1878 and today Paul and his son Cedric work their magic at these superb estates. While Brisson is only five years old it is bursting with ripe, fruits of the forest notes and there is a glossy, slickness to the palate which I absolutely adore. Leave your expensive clarets in the cellar and crack on with this terrific wine because it is sure to put a smile on your face in these testing times
