This small Domaine lies on 7ha of vines in St Estephe and is under the same ownership as Chateau Clauzet. Winemaker José Bueno has experience at Clerc Milon, Armailhac and Mouton Rothschild. An equal blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the vines have an average age of 35 years. The wine is aged for 12 to 14 months in 1/3 new oak barrels. 2010 was an intense, concentrated year making this superb value. We bought a very small parcel, just a few bottles remaining. Beginning to drink now (with a good hour in a decanter) but will develop further over the next 3-5 years.
“Rounded and ripe nose, clean blackcurrant fruit, cedar and graphite, complex and fine palate, St Estephe rustic and weighty tannins but with elegance and class.” – 90pts Ronan Sayburn MS, Decanter Magazine.
French still red wine from Saint Estephe Bordeaux France, made with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
This small Domaine lies on 7ha of vines in St Estephe. It was bought in 1997 by Baron Maurice Velge alongside Château Clauzet. José Bueno, previously winemaker at Château Mouton Rothschild, joined the adventure and is today the winemaker for both estates. Together they aim to produce a Grand Vin from a Grand terroir and we think the results are already promising.
