Owned by the same family for 13 generations, Chateau du Moulin Rouge is a small but perfectly formed Cru Bourgeois estate which lies in between Margaux and St Julien. Davy’s are very proud to be the sole UK importers for this estate, a great favourite with the team due both to the quality of the wine and the warmth of the Ribeiro family. 18 hectares are planted with 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, vines are on average 40 years old. The wine spends 12 months in French oak, only around 8,500 cases are made.

Château Moulin Rouge has been passed down through thirteen generations of the same family and it would be an understatement to say that they were passionate about it. It has a great position just south of St Julien-Beychevelle, they use plenty of new oak and everything is worked by hand. A favourite of Robert Parker, who in his book ‘Bordeaux’ describes it as: “… somewhat reminiscent of such wines as Hortevie and Terrey-Gros-Caillou… Of course, du Moulin Rouge is significantly less expensive since it is entitled only to the Haut Medoc appellation”. The estate spreads over 18 hectares that benefits from the micro climate of the estuary. Vines are an average of 40 years old and are planted with half Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc.
