Product description
Those looking for a veritable bargain need look no further. 2018 is a vintage that suits Fronsac superbly; Ch. George 7 have captured the cool fruit character, succulent and ripe tannic structure and wonderful balance that show the 2018 vintage at its best. This is hard to resist when young, but promises to age gracefully over the next five to ten years. With an eye firmly on the future, Ch. George 7 is amongst a group of high-performers in Fronsac in 2018, hopefully shaping what’s to come from this oft-overlooked region.
With high critic praise for this inaugural vintage, Ch. George 7 is already gathering recognition aplenty. It was recently awarded a medal at the most important wine competition in France, the 2020 Concours de Vin de Paris and has been selected as a Hot 50 Bordeaux wine competition winner. This is clearly a Château to start following now before demand and pricing pick up.
Wonderfully pleasing energy on the aromatic nose, floral notes, dark bramble-fruit and cherry and a wonderfully fresh mineral driven edge. Fine tannins and well-balanced acidity, pure and ripe fruit – blackberry and raspberry and just a touch of pepper spice and cedar on the finish. This has real verve and class. Lovely, teasing aromatics of blackberry and red plum. Star anise brightens a well poised, ample palate of fleshy damson and sloe

A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 George 7 gives up notes of prunes, baked blackberries and dried mulberries with touches of hoisin and licorice. Full and voluptuously fruited, with a plush frame, it has just enough freshness and a spicy finish. 89-91 points
