Tasting Wines
Menu
Davy’s wine tastings offer unique opportunities to sample wines from the world’s great wine producing regions and to taste under expert guidance in a convivial atmosphere. For this tasting we will be focusing on the prestigious La Dominique Estate.
In a prime location in the northwest of the Saint-Emilion region, bordering the Pomerol appellation, La Dominique’s 29
hectares lie in magnificent terroir. Surrounded by prestigious châteaux, this exceptional estate is located at the convergence
of two types of soil. In the north, lie the clay-gravel plateaux of Pomerol. In the south, lies the clay-limestone subsoil of Saint-
Emilion with patches of blue clay. The property therefore has a perfect mix of soils.
With its bright, deep red hue, Château La Dominique combines the generosity of Saint-Emilion with the sap of Pomerol,
which the property borders. Characterized by aromas of ripe fruit, set off by subtle spicy notes, the wine also reveals hints of
truffle, liquorice, pepper or undergrowth in many vintages. Its forthright character on entry is followed by smoothness and
body on the palate, showing silky, precise tannins. The long, full finish leaves a pleasant sensation of satisfaction.
After a Champagne reception, Victor will talk us through the history of the winery and winemaking in Saint-Emilion. We’ll taste some of the estate’s finest vintages and we’ll have an opportunity to look at the second wine, ‘Relais De La Dominique’ and explore how the grand vin influences its earlier drinking sibling. The tasting is followed by a specially prepared 4-course menu, with a wine paired with each course and Victor on hand to answer any questions.
Please note, seating may be at communal tables, menus sometimes include sharing dishes. Tasting & talk from 6.30-7.30pm followed by supper. We aim to wrap up the evening by 9.30pm.
