Full bodied and deep with sweet notes of cassis, cedar, leather and fresh mushrooms. Slightly earthy for the moment this is a wine that will gain from ageing.
French still red wine from Saint Julien Bordeaux France, made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
Once part of the Leoville estates (including Leoville Poyferre and Leoville Las Cases), Château Leoville Barton is the smallest portion of the three and has been owned by the Barton family since 1826. The wine is made at Langoa Barton, another estate bought by the family at the same time. When Anthony Barton took over the domaine in the mid 80s, the quality of the wine rose and today the grand vin performs as a true 2eme cru classé. Today Lilian, Anthony Barton’s daughter, runs the estate. The wines are known for offering great quality at reasonable prices, they are elegant and structured and classed amongst the best of St Julien. View our selection.
The estate spreads over 50 hectares of vines planted with 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. The wine is matured in oak barrels for 18 months, 50% of which is new.
Château Léoville Barton (grand vin) and La Réserve de Léoville Barton (second wine).
