In 1978 Andre Mentzelopoulos bought the domaine and two years later his daughter Corine, who now owns the estate, recruited Paul Pontallier to oversee the production. With 82 hectares under vine, the quality of their wines has been consistently excellent over the past 3 decades.

Ch. Margaux is known for combining finesse, elegance, complexity, density, intensity, length and freshness. It also has an extraordinary ability to evolve.

    About the producer: Château Margaux

Château Margaux is one of the 5th 1er Cru Classé property. Named ‘La Mothe de Margaux’ (the Margaux mound) in the 12th Century, the estate as we know it today was set up by the Lestonnac family in the 16th century. The château was the first claret to appear in a Christie’s catalogue with the 1771 vintage. After successive ownership, Andre Mentzelopoulos bought the domaine in 1977, and 2 years later his daughter Corine took over the estate. She recruited Paul Pontallier to oversee the production who decided to increase the use of Cabernet Sauvignon into the blend. The quality of their wines has been consistently excellent over the past three decades. View our selection.

    Wines Produced

Château Margaux (grand vin), Pavillon Rouge (second vin) and recetly Margaux du Château Margaux (third wine). They also produce a white wine named Pavillon Blanc.
