Château Pontet Canet’s vineyard is ideally positioned right opposite Mouton Rothschild. The quality has varied through time but since 1994 Alfred Tesseron has been in charge of the Domaine, leaving behind conventional vine growing techniques in order to embrace organic and biodynamic methods. The 81 hectares of vineyards are planted with 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Taste alone decides how long the wines are matured but usually the wines are fermented with natural yeasts and age on average 12-18 months in oak (40-60% new) before bottling.
Two wines are produced on the estate; the grand vin Château Pontet Canet and the second wine Les Hauts de Pontet Canet.
