French red wine from Pauillac in Bordeaux made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
Château Pontet Canet’s vineyard is ideally positioned right opposite Mouton Rothschild in Pauillac. The quality has varied through time but since 1994 Alfred Tesseron has been in charge of the domaine, leaving behind conventional vine growing techniques in order to embrace organic and biodynamic methods. After investing in the vineyard and the cellars, this 5ème cru classé is now one of the new great wines from Bordeaux and has garnered a lot of attention. View our selection.
The 81 hectares of vineyards are planted with 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Taste alone decides how long the wines are matured but usually the wines are fermented with natural yeasts and age on average for 12 to 18 months in oak (40-60% new) before bottling.
