The Drouhin family own 11 hectares of vines including substantial holdings in some of the most famous Grand Cru sites in the Côte de Nuits. Since the 2014 vintage, Nicholas and Caroline have increasingly taken the reins from their father Philippe. This Domaine has a long history of very fine wine making. Caroline also sources grapes from a close-knit group of growers for a range of négociant wines, labelled as Maison Laroze de Drouhin.
“Drouhin Laroze’s vines are on the upper slopes of the Clos Vougeot vineyard and this shows a rich and opulent nose with orange peel, a touch of smoke and oyster shell; mulberry, blueberry and violets. Dark black fruit on the palate, crunchy texture. Very concentrated and powerful tannins. Superbly focused, excellent energy and vibrant finish. Top notch!”
