Product description
Only wine that meets our exacting standards are bottled with the Davy family name on. James Davy and the wine team will either ask producers to blend wine to a specific style, or taste many samples until they are completely satisfied that the wine chosen is indicative of its appellation, and is the very best it can be for the price point.
Situated in the Douro Valley, Quinta da Silveira was founded in the mid-19th century and has since remained in the same family. Today, Manuel Maria Martinho, the sixth generation, runs the winery alongside winemaker Rodrigo Martins. Staying true to their heritage, traditional winemaking methods are still in use, including crushing the grapes by feet and fermentation using natural yeasts in traditional open tanks known as ‘lagares’.
Sweet with aromas of ripe red fruit and floral notes, the wine is full-bodied with firm tannins. Its smooth, persistent finish showcases both fruity richness and complexity.
