Product description
En Primeur Château Clerc Milon, 5ème Grand Cru Classé Pauillac, will be available for delivery or storage once it lands in the UK, usually two years following the en primeur offer.
In the 18th Century the Clerc family purchased this Estate adding the name Milon, the name of the Pauillac hamlet where it is situated, to create Ch. Clerc Milon. The Château was awarded 5th Growth classification in 1855, yet what had been a reasonable sized Estate was reduced to just over 40 acres when in 1970 the position and potential attracted the attention of Baron Phillipe de Rothschild, who added it to his empire. Over the next thirty years improvements were steadily made to many aspects of the Estate. The big changes began in 2007 with a gravity fed vat room, then in 2011 the Château, which was really a small house, and barrel cellars were completely modernised in spectacular fashion, with an enormous terrace extending to the vines. The resulting upgrades to vineyard and Château carry through to the wines.
Today Ch. Clerc Milon comprises over 100 acres planted with 50% Cabernet, 37% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc 2% Petit Verdot, and 1% Carmenere. The vineyards lie just to the north of Pauillac between Ch. Lafite and Ch. Mouton Rothschild. A lighter style than its illustrious neighbors, this is the top-quality value end of Pauillac Cru Classé that can be enjoyed some 6 or 8 years following the vintage, yet has the capacity to age in good years for up to a couple of decades.
