Product description
En Primeur Château George 7 Blanc will be available for delivery or storage once it lands in the UK, usually two years following the en primeur offer.
The estate of George 7 is nestled in the heart of Saillans, Fronsac. Considerable energy has gone into developing the property, vineyards and wine-making facilities, with the Merlot vines flourishing on terroir of clay soil and the underlying limestone plateau. There is a real focus on sustainability, with cover crops planted and a commitment to environmentally friendly practices across both vineyards and the winery. Experts guiding the estate are Anthony Appollot and Bruno Lacoste (who started his career with Michel Rolland) who also consult for several very well-known left and right bank Châteaux. The wines are vinified partly in 500-litre oak barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks, with ageing in oak barrels before bottling.
Château George 7 Blanc is summer in a bottle. It is 70% Sauvignon Blanc complemented by 30% Semillon giving it a lovely fruitiness and zestiness balanced by a rounded mouthfeel and added depth from fermentation in barrel on the lees. Fermented in year old Burgundy barrels, with very low addition of sulphur.
“Immensely drinkable and enjoyable with a richness to the texture and fruit concentration with peach, apricot and soft, herbal-edged citrus elements. This has nice persistence from start to finish with intensity of flavour and a lightness of touch as well as salty mineral elements that provide nuance and terroir markers. A lovely white in 2022, already in bottle, worth seeking out.”

“Richly textured, showing clearly more apricot and stone fruit flavours than the excellently fresh 2021 vintage of this white, but it retains grip and interest from the saline and saffron touches on the finish, and it’s one to look out for. Fermented in Burgundy barrels on the lees for 6 months.”
