Product description
En Primeur Château Haut-Bages Libéral will be available for delivery or storage once it lands in the UK, usually two years following the en primeur offer.
Château Haut-Bages-Libéral is a relatively hidden gem in Pauillac, not as widely known as some of its neighbours, but it produces exemplary wines at highly competitive prices. Since 1983 it has been owned by the Taillan Group, owners of Chasse-Spleen and Cos d`Estournel. The estate was managed during the 80s and early 90s by Bernadette Villars and is now managed by her daughter Claire.
The 29-hectare property is superbly sited in the south of the Pauillac appellation between Château Latour and the two Pichons. The vineyards lie on deep gravel beds over limestone and comprise 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. The wines are matured in oak barriques of which 40% are new, for 16-18 months. Since Claire Villars has been at the helm, the wines have become deeper in colour and more concentrated, with notable depth of fruit. It is classified as a 5ème Cru Classé.
En Primeur pricing is per case as specified and excludes UK duty and VAT, which will be charged at the prevailing rate when the wine is released from bond for delivery. Bonded storage is available. Onward delivery or transfer is not included and can be quoted for on request. Free delivery on orders over £100 does not apply to bonded or en primeur wines.
