Product description
En Primeur Connetable Talbot will be available for delivery or storage once it lands in the UK, usually two years following the en primeur offer.
This is one of the best second wines of the Médoc. Connétable saw the light of day in the sixties. It has benefited over the years from all the care given to the vineyard and increasingly severe selections. Talbot have long been a well-loved estate, with the wines reliable and good quality. Recent years have seen Talbot’s reputation rise, with wines that have taken a step up in quality and under the new direction of Jean-Michel Laporte (previously of Pomerol’s Ch. La Conseillante) the future is looking very bright.
The estate has a rich history. Its name originates with Connétable Talbot, Earl of Shrewsbury, governor of Guyenne as well as being a famous English military commander, who was defeated at the battle of Castillon in 1453.With 110 hectares of a single vineyard surrounding the Chateau and reaching to the Pauillac border, Ch. Talbot is enviably located on the banks of the Gironde estuary on hilltops of alluvial gravel and a terroir of fine Gunzian gravels with a core of fossil-rich limestone, which form draining hilltops. 105 hectares are given to red vines with a tiny (5%) given to white vines
En Primeur pricing is per case as specified and excludes UK duty and VAT, which will be charged at the prevailing rate when the wine is released from bond for delivery. Bonded storage is available. Onward delivery or transfer is not included and can be quoted for on request. Free delivery on orders over £100 does not apply to bonded or en primeur wines.
