Yolanda Garcia Alvarez, one of Spain’s top oenologist, is convinced that great grapes need time and care to reveal their best. She believes long maturation in both barrel and bottle is absolutely necessary and meticulously selects each barrel to produce powerful and elegant wines that will last for decades.
Sourced from 900 metres high vineyards located on the border of Ribera del Duero and aged for 15 months in six type of oak barrels. Aromas of fresh blueberry with hints of mint and coffee. Full-bodied with great concentration of ripe fruits on the palate well-balanced with soft tannins and a refreshing acidity. This is incredibly good value and will keep for a few years!
This wine from Old Castille took our judges off the beaten Tempranillo path, but everyone loved its alluring liveliness, its grace, its shapeliness and its charm. It's dark black in colour with ripe berry scents backed by bay-leaf and oak-copse complexities. The palate is mouth-filling yet softly textured, with more red berry fruits in a settled and balanced style. A mist of fine tannins adds textural interest, but it's the intrinsic quality of the fruit itself which its creators have wisely decided to put centre stage. This is a hugely amenable red capable of partnering a wide range of dishes with panache. Drink 2019-2025- 97 pts Decanter World Wine Awards
