Intense fortified sweet red wine with pure blackberry aromas, licorice and dry fruits. The palate has smooth tannins and a delicate texture with refreshing acidity. Very harmonious, complex and precise.
Located in the Douro Valley the firm was founded in 1815 by Fonsecas and Monteiros before being led by the Guimaraens family, who established Fonseca reputation as a ‘first growth’ Vintage Port house. Today the Yeatmans and their descendants are in charge. Since 1970 they have invested in vineyard ownership, taken a leading role in vineyard renovation and have become a pioneer of organic and sustainable viticulture. Fonseca’s 3 distinctive terroir, Panascal, Cruzeiro and Santo António, defines the character of their wines.
They are mainly famous for Vintage Port, Guimaraens Vintage, Bin No 27 and their limited release of a Bicentenary Edition Crusted Port to commemorate 200 years of family tradition and achievement.
