Product description
Hungarian expatriate Róbert Gilvesy returned to his homeland from Canada in 2012, fulfilling his dream of establishing a winery in the Balatoni Borrégió region. Now nestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Balaton at Szent György-hegy, he cultivates 17 hectares of organic vineyards, focusing on Olaszrizling, Furmint, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc. As a founding member of Volcanic Wines of Pannonia (VWP), Gilvesy is dedicated to enhancing the quality and profile of volcanic wines in the Pannon basin.
The Pixu series represents a new, more natural direction for the winery, embracing gentle pressing, minimal sulphur, and no filtration. This particular wine is a blend of two old barrels of Furmint, one from 2019 and one from 2021. It boasts a complex, seductive nose with notes of marzipan, ripe peach, ripe lemon, and toast. On the palate, it delivers an intense, oily texture with pronounced, refreshing acidity, zesty lemon, green apple, unripe peach, and an impressive finish.
