Hermitage, Domaine du Colombier 2016 is available to purchase in bond.
The Domaine du Colombier, located in Northern Rhône Valley, has been in the Viale family for three generations. First vines were planted at the foot of the Hermitage hill in 1929, but prior to 1992, the entire production was sold to local négociants. Once the decision was taken to market wines under the Domaine du Colombier label, the estate has become one of the finest sources of high-class, sensibly priced northern Rhône Syrah. Today it is run by Florent Viale who produces powerful yet elegant wine with plenty of ripe fruit.
“Very dense fruits on the nose, with liquorice and a whiff of hot tar and smoked meats. It’s full-bodied, generously fruited and concentrated, with a long finish. The tannins here are very ripe and succulent, but sizeable and dense. It’s quite a wine – there’s a touch of pleasing rusticity about it but no denying its Hermitage DNA. 94 points” Matt Walls, Decanter.com, October 2017.
Offered for sale, in bond. Price shown is per case (12x75cl bottles) and excludes delivery, UK duty and VAT which will be charged at the prevailing rate when the wine is released from bond.
