    Product description

Founded by five Riojan and Basque families who shared a passion for wine, the wines of La Rioja Alta are known for producing some of the greatest wine in the region.

Aged for 4 years in 4 years old American oak barrels. A powerful wine with ripe and spicy flavours and hint of vanilla.

“Reflecting the excellence of the vintage, as well as its power, this is the latest in a superb run of 904 Gran Reservas. Combining Tempranillo with 10% Graciano for added backbone and grip, it’s a wine that is (as ever) supremely drinkable on release, but will reward further cellaring. Spicy, aromatic and enticing, with the vanilla sweetness of American oak, savoury tannins and a core of stylish, balsamic-edged fruit. Traditional Rioja with a modern accent.” – 96pts Tim Atkin MW, timatkin.com, November 2017

Spanish still red wine from Rioja Spain made with Tempranillo and Graciano.

  • About the producer

About the producer: La Rioja Alta SA

La Rioja Alta SA was founded in 1890 by five Riojan and Basque families who shared a passion for wine. At the time it was named ‘Sociedad Vinícola de La Rioja Alta’. Embracing tradition and innovation they built a new winery in 1986 in Labastida. Equipped with state of the art technology, they significantly increased the quality of their wines which today are known internationally and perceived as some of the greatest of Rioja. Oak being at the core of the ageing process, they manufacture their own barrels using completely artisanal methods. View our selection.

    Wines Produced

They only produce Rioja under 5 labels; Gran Reserva 890, Gran Reserva 904, Viña Ardanza, Viña Arana and Viña Alberdi.
